The Shiva Purana's account of Shree Ganesh's origin begins with Parvati, alone at Kailash and preparing for her bath, with no one at hand to guard against intrusion while Nandi was occupied elsewhere.
A Mother's Solution
Wishing for privacy and a guardian she could fully trust, Parvati took the turmeric and sandalwood paste she had applied to her own body, shaped it into the form of a boy, and breathed life into the figure — a child created entirely from her own devotion and substance, without any other origin.
A Single, Clear Instruction
Parvati gave this newly formed son one clear task: to guard the entrance and allow no one to pass while she bathed, an instruction he was to follow completely, regardless of who might approach.
What This Beginning Sets in Motion
This act of creation, made from a mother's own hands and will, sets the stage for one of the most significant sequences of events in all of Shree Ganesh's Puranic history — a story of devotion, misunderstanding, and ultimately, restoration that would establish his place among the gods for all time.
