The Fall of Sindhu

← Back to Puranic Stories

As Sindhu's power grew unchecked, terrorizing the three worlds, the gods turned to Mayuresvara, whose battle against this demon would resolve the very threat his Treta Yuga incarnation had been born to face.

A Battle Fought in Stages

Mayuresvara first defeated Sindhu's army and cut down his general, Kamalasura, clearing the way to confront Sindhu directly — a campaign fought with the same deliberate, systematic resolve found throughout Shree Ganesh's other great battles.

Undoing the Swallowed Boon

Recognizing that Sindhu's immortality lay hidden within the very bowl he had swallowed, Mayuresvara cut open the demon's body, emptying the amrita bowl and finally ending the protection Sindhu had believed absolute.

What Devotees Seek

The fall of Sindhu completes Mayuresvara's Treta Yuga mission, devotees drawing from it the assurance that no power, however carefully protected, lies beyond Shree Ganesh's reach when the balance of the world truly depends on its undoing.
